Blog Reflection 1

I finally fot the hang of doing this class, I recently figured out how to reply to the discussion forum. I like this online course because there nothing hard about it. All I have to do is actually do the work. This blog thing is ok, its kind of like myspace, but without the friends and making your own design on the webpage.

Library Visit

I went to the Mark Twain library that opened recently. The library is located at 2517 East Anahiem. They can be reached by this telephone number (562) 438-8607. I have not stepped foot into a library since I left elementary. The only thing I can remember is one librarian with tons of book shelves that made long aisles. Outside of the Mark Twain Library looks very nice especially where it is located at. As soon as I step through the electric sliding doors I felt the cool aire from the air conditioner rub against my skin. And saw three people checking out books at the counter. There is a stand where there is a sheet of paper you fill out for a library card infront the library as soon as you enter. I was surprised by the variety of books they had. They had a section for children in a corner that looked like a day care center. An adult section was near the entrance of the library but it was not anything R rated. I am guessing its romance novells and other sorts of things. What really caught my attention is that they had a Khmer section. I never seen this before in my life. They had a couple of books in khmer but what I say where mostly dvd’s. There was also a spanish section, and of course english. They had an anime section too. They did not just let people check out books at the library, I saw movies there also and maybe some music cds. The Mark Twain Library seem to have many services avalible. They had a help desk in front at the entrance. In the center of the library there is a tutor. There is a bulleton with list of events that are going to happen at the library. I saw that there is a khmer class taught there, and there were puppet shows for entertainment. They had many table and chairs for student to do there home work. They were couches for people to sit down and read. Many computers were avaible to the public too. I seen most of the children doing what they were supposed to be doing, like research and looking up facts, but the others were on myspace and other things. The thing I like about the library is that it is very neat and clean. The library did not seem to be clustered. From the outside of the library I expected there to be an upstairs but it is not. It is just a very high ceilling. The library reminds me of a store called Borders. It a place for people to buy books and it is for people who just want to side down and read or hang out with friends, in a calm envirnment. The library did not seem crowded with people to me. The thing that I do not like about the library is that it seems to have a lot of things in there to help you, but it looks to me like there is a limited amount of books. It felt like it was just a rack of magazines like at the Seven Eleven. All the books had a number on them so it looked like the library is using the Dewey Decimal Classification system. It is a public library. Overall I would recommend this library to other people.
